Position Summary:
The Administrative and Development Assistant will handle general office tasks and administrative duties, such as organizing schedules and events, entering data, maintaining office equipment, providing basic tech support, and other general operations activities. This is a part-time position in the range of 15-20 hours per week, with potential for increased hours and responsibility after satisfactory performance during a 1-year probationary period.
Location: In-office position, Helena, Montana.
Type: Part-time position in the range of 15-20 hours per week. There is a 1-year probationary period. Preferred start date is June 30, 2025.
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Compensation: MEIC offers compensation commensurate with skills and experience and a competitive benefits package that includes: paid vacation and holiday leave, sick leave, partial health insurance cost coverage, retirement account contributions after one year of employment, and sabbatical leave. Starting hourly wage for this 15-20 hour per week position will be in the $22-$24/hour range.

Job Activities:
- Support membership and fundraising activities, including (but not limited to): donor data entry, generating mailing lists, and assisting in member mailings such as renewal appeals and acknowledgement letters.
- Assist in daily operations such as daily post-office visits, making bank deposits, providing print tech support, ordering office and mailing supplies, stocking, etc.
- Assist staff in scheduling events on the online calendar, and tracking media..
- Coordinate with MEIC’s Development Officer (DO) and Executive Director (ED) to grow and engage MEIC’s active network of members, partners, and supporters.
- Assist staff with member engagement, education, recruitment, and appreciation events across the state.
- In coordination with the ED and Chief Financial Officer (CFO), prepare reports and materials for donors and board meetings and assist in fundraising activities.
- Perform miscellaneous office and administrative duties as needed.
Knowledge, Competencies, & Skills:
- High degree of computer literacy.
- Proficiency in many or all of the following programs/platforms preferred: Zoom, Google Workspace suite (Google Docs, Drive, Calendar, Sheets, Gmail, etc), macOS, QuickBooks Online, and Little Green Light (or another donor database system).
- Proficiency with these platforms is a bonus: WordPress, Slack, MailChimp, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Social and emotional intelligence and the ability to work effectively as a member of a highly collaborative team.
- Value alignment with MEIC’s mission and work for climate action, clean energy advocacy, and environmental protection.
- General awareness of Montana’s statewide political and cultural landscapes, especially pertaining to environmental issues and policies.
- Cultural Competence: Demonstrated awareness of the complexity of cultural identity and difference, and the ability to learn and build on varying cultural and community norms. An understanding of racial justice issues and the urgency of confronting inequity within our society. Attunement to equity and inclusion as valuable elements of organizational culture.
