A coalition of tribal nations is calling for a meeting with the U.S. and Canadian governments after the two countries failed to meet their own deadline of addressing toxic water contamination that flows into Montana from Canadian mines.
Last week, the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes in Montana, Kootenai Tribe of Idaho and Ktunaxa Nation in British Columbia released a joint statement that the tribes would be convening a “government-to-government-to-government meeting to be set in November.” The Ktunaxa Nation stated it “invites Canada and the United States to immediately make good on their promise and meet with the governments.”
