EPA released a new mercury and air toxics standard (MATS) from coal-fired power plants such as the Colstrip plant. This rule is part of a suite of updated rules intended to curb pollution from coal-fired power plants, but the MATS rule is the one that will have the most immediate impact in Montana. It will require significant reductions in the nation’s leading toxic polluters — coal-fired power plants. In this webinar recorded on May2, MEIC, Montana Health Professionals for a Healthy Climate, and the Montana Chapter of the Sierra Club discussed the new MATS rule and the other coal-fired power plant pollution standards, and how you can help support these efforts to reduce toxic air pollutants and protect public health.
