HELENA — Twenty years of alterations made behind closed doors at the Colstrip coal-fired energy plant at Colstrip could potentially increase the plant’s ability to burn coal and produce pollution, bypassing rules protecting public health, air and water, according to a formal legal warning sent today.

Conservation and health advocates today sent a formal legal warning that they intend to sue the companies that own the Colstrip coal-fired power plant for violating the federal Clean Air Act. <READ FULL NOTICE LETTER>
