The Montana Environmental Information Center collects no personal information from you when you visit our website, unless you specifically choose to provide that information (e.g., signing up for activist e-alerts). We do not share email addresses with others, though on a rare occasion, we may share our membership list with organizations with similar goals.
In order to gauge the effectiveness of our website, MEIC does track information about when and how many visitors come to the site and what pages are most popular. We do not track this information by individual visitor.
Although our website has several links to other organizations and government agencies, we cannot be held responsible for the privacy policies on those sites.

Donor Privacy Policy
MEIC respects the privacy of its members. Therefore, personal information about MEIC members is collected solely for the purpose of making MEIC a more effective organization, including for such activities as relationship-building, fundraising, thanking, performing internal analyses, mobilizing members, and providing targeted issue updates. MEIC maintains a privacy policy for our members, which can be viewed here.
Tax Information
The Montana Environmental Information Center is a nonprofit public benefit corporation incorporated in 1974 under the laws of the State of Montana. MEIC is exempt from federal income taxation because it is the type of organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Most donations to MEIC are deductible as charitable contributions under Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
MEIC’s employer identification number is 23-7337100.
Each year MEIC files an annual information return (Form 990) with the Internal Revenue Service. Copies of the most recent returns are available below.
