This community screening of Youth v. Gov is a kickoff party in support of the courageous Montana youth plaintiffs in the Held v. Montana trial which will take place in Helena, June 12-23rd.
Doors open at 6pm. Screening 6:30-8:30. Panel 8:30-9:30pm. Suggested donation: $5 for youth and students, and $10-50 for adults. All proceeds will support Our Children’s Trust and Helena Held vs. MT organizing efforts. Panel discussion to follow the screening (more details to come).
YOUTH v GOV is the story of the Juliana v. The United States of America constitutional lawsuit and the 21 American youth, ages 14 to 25, who are taking on the world’s most powerful government. Since 2015, the legal non-profit Our Children’s Trust, has been representing these youth in their landmark case against the U.S. government for violating their constitutional rights to life, liberty, personal safety, and property through their willful actions in creating the climate crisis they will inherit.

About Held v. State of Montana:
On March 13, 2020, 16 young people from across the state of Montana filed their constitutional climate lawsuit, Held v. State of Montana, against the state of Montana, asserting that, by supporting a fossil fuel-driven energy system, which is contributing to the climate crisis.
This historic trial – the first children’s climate trial in U.S. history – will begin on Monday, June 12, 2023, in Helena, Montana, and will conclude Friday, June 23, 2023.
The youth plaintiffs are represented by Our Children’s Trust, Western Environmental Law Center, and McGarvey Law.
