Nov 21, 2024 Montana’s clear, clean water is essential for fishing, swimming… and drinking! On November 21, Meadowlark Brewing will host a forum with Meadowlark owner Travis Peterson, Our Montana Field Program Director Mike Penfold, Yellowstone River Parks Association (YRPA) Executive Director Carolyn Sevier, and MEIC Sustainable Communities Planning Advocate Laura Collins to speak about brewing, the importance of clean water, and policies and practices that help protect this precious resource. We’ll have time for your questions, whether it’s about Meadowlark’s brewing processes, what makes the water around Billings unique, and how policies made at the state level can impact what you’re drinking. Details: Panelists: MEIC Community Connector Katie Harrison will moderate the event. Matt Lopez, a local indigenous-Mexican poet, will read a poem called “The River” for Native American Heritage Month. Meadowlark’s creation came about like any other American dream, it was just that, a dream. Our founder, Travis, an avid craft beer “researcher,” moved home to Sidney, Montana in 2010 to help with the other family business Sidney Red-E-Mix, which is when the real encouragement from his parents came into play. Sidney, a small town in Eastern Montana was ready for some locally made beer. As with the rest of the country, Sidneyites, Sidneyers, the people of Sidney, were becoming more aware of and thirsty for craft beer. Travis and family saw this new “thirst” very inline with their new goals and dreams, and so the journey began. https://www.meadowlarkbrewing.com/

YRPA is a volunteer-driven organization helping to build parks and trails along the Yellowstone River Greenway in Billings, Montana. The Yellowstone is the longest undammed river in the lower 48 states and a treasure for the community of Billings. A group of Billings residents founded Yellowstone River Parks Association in 1991, and both through ownership and by partnering with public land agencies we help to manage more than 2,000 acres of green space that is open to the public. https://www.yrpa.org/
MEIC was founded in 1973 by Montanans concerned with protecting and restoring Montana’s natural environment. Thousands of Montanans support MEIC as members, both financially and with their activism. To protect and restore the land, air, water, and life-sustaining climate of Montana, MEIC advocates, educates, and empowers people in service of a clean and healthful environment for present and future generations.
