HB 418, by Representative Joe Read (R-Ronan), would declare that “reasonable amounts of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere have no verifiable impacts on the environment…” and claims that  “[reports that] carbon associated with human activities causes climate change are invalid.” This bill would also require that the Montana Office of Public Instruction provide a report on “climate change curriculums” and that the Department of Revenue provide a report on “tax incentives intended to alter human behavior in response to climate change…” This anti-science bill misrepresents the overwhelming scientific consensus on human-caused climate change.

Heard in the House Natural Resources Committee on February 18th. Tabled in that committee. Likely dead.
